Robert Parrino has been on the University of Texas faculty since 1992. Robert was Founding Director of the Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst Center for Private Equity Finance in the McCombs School of Business, where he is currently Bank of America Centennial Fellow.

Before entering the academic profession, Robert was President of Sprigg Lane Financial, Inc., a financial consulting firm with offices in Charlottesville, Virginia and New York City.  Robert was on the Corporate Business Planning and Development staff at Marriott Corporation before joining Sprigg Lane.

Robert teaches courses in MBA and executive education programs at the University of Texas and customized courses for executives in financial and non-financial corporations.  Robert has also taught in the MBA Programs at University of Chicago, University of Rochester, and IMADEC University in Vienna. Robert has taught executive courses for Texas Instruments, Motorola, Dell Computer, Tivoli Systems, Banco do Brasil, Shell Oil, Accor, Cemex, Merrill Lynch, Chase Bank, Alliance Capital Management, and KPMG, among others.  These courses cover topics such as working capital management, capital budgeting, capital structure policy, dividend policy, leasing policy, risk management, business valuation, value-based management, private equity markets, security analysis, and equity portfolio management.

Robert holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has been very active with the CFA Institute, serving on the Candidate Curriculum Committee, speaking on valuation at the annual Financial Analysts Seminar, and as a visiting speaker at numerous Financial Analyst Society meetings.  Robert is also Co-Founder of the National Forum for Corporate Finance and Associate Editor of the Journal of Corporate Finance and the Journal of Financial Research.  Robert’s current research includes work on corporate governance, financial policies, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions, as well as research on private equity markets. Robert has won numerous awards for teaching and research.

Robert received his MS and PhD in applied economics and finance, respectively, from the University of Rochester, MBA from The College of William and Mary, and BS in chemical engineering from Lehigh University.
